Getting started is simpler than you think
No lengthy forms, no entrance exams — just a short conversation and an application to secure your place in the next cohort.
Who can enrol at Wellingtonhub?
Wellingtonhub is open to anyone aged 16 and over who lives or works in the Auckland region. You don't need prior qualifications to join most programmes — what matters is a clear goal and a willingness to participate. For NCEA prep classes, learners typically need to be currently enrolled at secondary school or have left within the past two years. For ESOL programmes, we run a short placement conversation (not a test) to assign you to the right proficiency group. Professional Development and Creative Skills programmes are open entry for adults. If you're unsure whether you qualify, call us — the answer is almost always yes, and if it isn't we'll point you toward something that fits better.
The four steps to joining a cohort
2. Submit your application
Complete the short online form — it takes about five minutes. You'll tell us which programme you're joining, your preferred cohort start date, and a little about your background.
3. Receive your confirmation
We confirm your place within one business day. Your welcome email includes the cohort timetable, the learner portal login, and a short pre-reading guide so you arrive ready.
4. Show up and start
Week one is orientation — you'll meet your tutor, your cohort, and get a feel for the campus. There's nothing to prepare beyond showing up with a notebook and any questions you've been sitting on.
Fees, funding, and what to expect
Programme fees vary by length and subject area. NCEA preparation classes start at $320 NZD for a six-week cohort. Professional Development workshops are $410–$490 NZD for eight weeks. Creative Skills and ESOL programmes are similarly priced. Literacy and Numeracy classes are currently offered at no cost to the learner, funded through a community partnership with Auckland Council. Fee payment is due at enrolment and can be split into two instalments on request. Wellingtonhub does not currently administer government training subsidies directly, but our admissions team can advise whether a programme qualifies for Fees Free or a Study Link contribution, and point you to the relevant application. We keep fees transparent — no material charges, no surprise admin fees on top of what you see advertised.
